Vanessa Alford lectures in Sports Medicine and is completing her Doctorate of Philosphy in Indigenous Health. She has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (honours) and a Post-graduate certificate in Nutrition. Vanessa worked as a physiotherapist and has taught clinical Pilates for over 10 years. She is committed to maintaining a balance between life and health. She continues to jog, but only for 30 minutes at a time a couple of times a week. Vanessa lives in Melbourne with her husband and daughters.
Vanessa says that she has always had a love for sport and fitness and excelled in long distance running in her mid-twenties, finishing third in the 2005 Melbourne marathon in a time of two hours and fifty-four minutes. She also loves to travel, having visited over 50 countries, including many developing countries in Africa, Asia and South America. She particularly enjoys visiting developing countries and exploring different cultures. She and her husband sponsor a family in Cambodia and have led several student field trips to Cambodia to work in orphanages. Vanessa has a French background and grew up speaking both French and English.Share this author
